The statistics are staggering:  12 to 14 percent of American adults have diabetes and another 38 percent have pre-diabetes, a condition that harms your health while putting you at high risk for getting diabetes.  The good news:  losing five to ten percent of your body weight can reverse pre-diabetes.  If you have type 2 diabetes,  losing weight, eating right and exercising can get your blood sugar under control, may even reduce your medication  dose, and, in some cases, reverse your diabetes.

The Best Life Guide to Managing Diabetes and Pre-diabetes, which I wrote with Bob Greene and Dr. John Merendino Jr., helps you navigate the eating, exercising and medications that prevent and control these two conditions.  I won't lie--diabetes is a tough disease to manage, but we break it all down into manageable chunks.

Great post! Thank you for the insightful article. I would like to include a little bit more information that long-term hyperglycemia during diabetes causes chronic damage and dysfunction of various tissues, especially the eyes, kidneys, heart, blood vessels, and nerves.
